Welcome to Cottage School of Music - Senior. Cottage School of Music - Senior is widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading Music Education programmes for children aged 5-18. Cottage School of Music - Senior is directed by Micheál McCarthy, one of Australia's leading Aural Training and Choral Training specialists. Cottage School of Music - Junior is directed by Danielle Joynt, an outstanding specialist in the field. Both graduates of the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music, each have over 20 years experience as Aural/Choral Training specialists. In these programmes, children are able to develop their natural musical potential in a dynamic and fun and stimulating learning environment. Cottage School of Music aims to promote music as an important aspect of cultural life, and to spread in society a love of music as a performing art. The school strives to promote music as a way towards social growth, and aims to research and promote music education both in the very early years of school and in later stages of development. We aim to share these experiences with the wider community. Our aim is to develop long-lasting programmes rather than casual projects. We enrich our activities not only through the contributions of our outstanding teachers, but also through our wonderful guest artists. Our programmes cater for children from 18 months to 18 years, and are finely tuned to suit the needs of each age level. Our Junior and Senior Musicianship programmes prepare children for instrumental/vocal training, and also serve to support that training as children develop their instrumental skills. Our Choral Programme for children aged 5 to 16 offers children the opportunity to develop their performance potential and to learn about the joys of being involved in a high-quality musical ensemble. Our School Holiday Programmes provide the perfect introduction to our programme for children aged 4 - 14. We also offer a special programme for High School students preparaing for examinations such as the TEE and university entrance examination. As it happens, many of our former students have continued through to full-time music at university. Many others have gone on to forge careers in a miriad of other areas such engineering, medicine, law and education - they still carry with them a life-long love of music.
